VIOLIN LESSONS WITH MEGAN
Now located in Padbury, WA
Lessons are individualised, and are structured to what you or your child want to achieve.
For beginner students, you'll learn how to read and write music, the foundations of violin posture and techniques, and how to play songs by yourself and with other people.

For the more advanced players? Maybe your goal is to finally play some Mozart. Or you're wanting to do AMEB violin exams and work towards auditioning for a school program. Or maybe you want to learn some jazz, folk, and contemporary songs and continue playing violin as a hobby.
Tell me what your goals are and we can work towards achieving them.

FAQ
HELPFUL INFORMATION
Do I need a violin on my first lesson?
Yes - and there are some wonderful places to go in Perth to start investigating what instrument you want. You can either hire an instrument (starting at approx $30 per month) or buy an instrument.
I recommend the following places as they have very helpful staff and should be able to find the correct size and instrument for your budget:

Music Stores in Perth:
WA Music, Innaloo (https://www.wamusic.com.au/)
Tempest Music, Como (https://www.tempestmusic.com.au/)
Zenith Music, Nedlends (https://zenithmusic.com.au/)

I'm 45 years old and I've never played a musical instrument, but always wanted to! Is it too late for me?
It's never too late! One of my favourite students is 85 and is able to make a lovely sound that brings her so much joy. Violin (well, all music) is a great hobby to have that can last a lifetime, and is a wonderful way to express yourself and connect with other people. Give yourself a challenge and have a go!
Do I need weekly lessons?
It depends on what you want to achieve. I often compare learning the violin to learning a new language. If it's all new to you and you want to improve, you'll need weekly lessons until you feel you're at a competent level. If it's something you have done previously, you may only want fortnightly lessons. The aim of having violin lessons is to gain enough experience and confidence to achieve and problem solve for yourself.
I've booked in for my first lesson, should I arrive early?
A few minutes early is perfect. I may be with another student when you arrive, so feel free to make yourself comfortable sitting outside, and I'll be with you as soon as I can!
Please note: if you arrive late, I unfortunately can't give the full lesson time due to scheduling.
What do I do if I need to cancel a lesson?
Call or text Megan on 0407009054. Please give 24hrs notice on cancelling/rescheduling a lesson. Late cancellations/no shows will be charged.
If you're sick on the day, please let me know as soon as possible, and I may be able to reschedule.
How much do I need to practise?
If you are a beginner, and aged between 4-10 I would recommend 10-15 minutes five days a week. Ages 10 and above, 15-20 minutes five days a week. As you advance, you will have more complicated things to practise and will need to schedule more time.
Practising requires building a new habit; if you are getting lessons for your child, you will need to help them find a time to practise until the habit is established. It helps to have a consistent time like before dinner, or straight after homework. Its better to do more practise sessions for less time then to do one or two long practise sessions each week.
